President J.F. Kennedy once remarked that the word crisis is composed of two characters. One represents danger, and the other represents opportunity.
There is no doubt that the Covid-19 crisis has caused many problems, but it also creates opportunities for innovation. It is not surprising that some local businesses have moved from producing alcoholic beverages to produce hand sanitizers.
Churches and religious organisations who hitherto could reach their faithful only from the church pulpit can now interact using virtual technologies from their homes.
This morning, I watched a news item from Joy News, where a young marketing graduate has created a mobile hand washing sink that can helps us wash our hands without touching. This would help reduce the spread of the Corona Virus.
Personally, I have resorted to writing, since I realised the lock down situation increases the desire for people to read. Should we focus only on? The problems and sufferings that the Corona Virus has brought to bear on our economic, physical and mental well- being?
In Psalm 23 v 5; David wrote, you prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. In the midst of Covid-19 the enemy, God has prepared a table of opportunities which we need to take advantage of. The crisis brings forth a lot of new things we can do, both personally and as a church.
God is always with us both in good times and bad times.
We should pray that the helper, the Holy Spirit will teach us all things, give us ideas, and help us identify opportunities, find new ways of doing things; and find a vaccine for Covid-19.
